4 Amazing Ways To Monetize Your Blog

People start websites and blogs for numerous reasons some of which are financially based. With so many options for generating revenue from a website, publishers may wonder which advertising campaigns are most profitable and which ones to avoid.
There are benefits and disadvantages to every advertising model.

1.CPM Advertising

CPM advertising is one of the most common types of performance marketing  especially for websites that have established traffic patterns. CPM advertising stands for cost per thousand, meaning advertisers pay website owners a predetermined fee for every 1,000 ad views, regardless of how well a particular ad performs.
CPM advertising is preferred by advertisers, as well as Web publishers, because of the security in knowing how much ad revenue will be spent and received.
However, the downside to CPM is that advertisers may overpay for a poorly performing ad, and similarly, publishers may be inadequately compensated for an especially relevant ad. CPM fees are usually negotiated according to the nature of the ad, as well as the website that will host it. Most CPM ad campaigns are under contract for a specific period of time and mediated by a CPM advertising brokerage.

2.CPC

CPC advertising refers to cost per click, meaning publishers receive ad revenue each time a web visitor clicks on a particular ad. CPC is especially popular with blogs and advertisers just starting out, although CPC can be found on veteran websites as well.
One of the most popular CPC platforms is the Google Adwords platform, which uses tracking cookies and contextual information within each website to determine which ads to display to visitors.
CPC is also known as PPC, or pay per click, among web publishers and advertisers. Many web publishers prefer CPC because of its ease of use and the unlimited potential for ad revenue. However, CPC can also be fickle in nature.
Ad revenue per ad click may vary by season and the keywords used to generate the ads. CPC is a less reliable revenue model for publishers who need more financial stability.

3.CPA

CPA stands for cost per action. In other words, advertisers pay a fee only after a website visitor views an ad, clicks on it and completes a specified action, such as making a purchase.
Usually, the advertiser will then pay the publisher a percentage of the sale, which is generally much more than would have been paid for the web visitors click under a CPC marketing platform.
CPA is beneficial to advertisers, because it reduces click fraud and ensures the advertiser only pays for truly profitable conversions. Similarly, many publishers prefer CPA, because commissions can rise significantly, especially when the advertisers products are recommended within blog posts or an email subscriber list.
On the other hand, the wrong CPA campaign could prove useless if website visitors are not compelled to make purchases.
It is important to note, however, that many CPA programs have cooking tracking policies that guarantee publishers a right to commissions on return visits for a predetermined period of time, such as 30 or 60 days.

4.CPL

CPL, or cost per lead, is an advertising model that pays the host of the advertisement each time a website visitor completes a lead form. A lead is often an inquiry requesting more information via mail, phone call or email.
CPL campaigns usually pay a predetermined amount of money for each lead, and that payout is typically much higher than the price of a CPC click-through. CPL is beneficial to advertisers, because advertisers never pay for intangible results.
CPL campaigns are especially popular among advertisers that provide client consultations, such as lawyers, lenders and financial advisors.
Advertisers are paying only for traffic interested in a specific product or service, and although it may not mean immediate income, future conversions should provide a return on the CPL investment.
Those hosting the advertisements like the CPL advertising model because advertisers must pay regardless of whether a lead converts into a sale.

Considerations

The performance of a particular type of ad campaign will vary from website. What works for one publisher or advertiser may not be profitable for another. That is why testing and tweaking are important to ensuring your website is monetized according to its maximum potential.

Top 5 Web Design Mistakes Small Businesses Make

If youre a small business owner, your website is the central hub of your company, and its a pivotal part of your marketing and branding.
Potential customers visit your site specifically for its content, meaning its appearance and usability are critical to its success and how those users view your company. However, getting your web design wrong can have a negative impact on your business.
Here are 5 common web design mistakes you must avoid to create a great user experience and grow your bottom line.

1. Poor Navigation

Many small businesses fail to make navigation a priority, but without careful attention to how people navigate your site, you could unintentionally be creating a frustrating experience for any potential visitor. People visit your site for specific information, and if they cannot find it they will quickly go elsewhere, leaving with the impression that your business is disorganized in more than just its website.
A good navigation structure should be seamless and will keep visitors on your site longer, which means potentially more readers, subscribers, sales or leads whichever is your primary objective.
Website navigation affects both usability and accessibility, so its important to make it a primary concern. Most websites and blogs use common navigational techniques that are expected by the average visitor. The pages and sections of the site should be easy and logical for visitors to maneuver. Dont make your visitors think about how to navigate your site; it should be effortless and natural.
There are several principles you can follow to create an effective navigation structure:
  • Use icons to aid navigation. Theyre both visually appealing and easy to use and understand.
  • Create logical groups of related links, with the most important links on the top-level navigation bar and functional (dashboard, account, settings, etc.) and legal (copyright, privacy, terms) located elsewhere.
  • Provide location information so users know where they are on any given page and how to proceed to another area of the website. This can be achieved by using Breadcrumb navigation.

2. No Clear Calls To Action

The fundamental error of many small business websites is the lack of a clear call to action. Weve all seen bland small-business brochure websites with nothing but endless descriptive paragraphs. If you arent leading users to commit to an action (buy a product, contact you or subscribe, for example), then you are losing them.
Driving traffic to your website is important, but that traffic is useless if your primary call to action is a plain click here link buried in a sea of text. Call-to-action buttons are a great way to grab the users attention, and these buttons can be the key to higher conversions. Investing time and consideration into creating successful calls to action can help guide users and address their needs while achieving your own business goals.
Its important to keep the following best practices in mind when creating an optimal call to action:
  • The design of a call to action can be broken down into 4 simple elements  size, shape, color, and position. Each plays a vital part in determining how effective the call to action is in directing the user.
  • Dont make your users work or think, or theyll leave. Its not that they arent smart, its that they want access to information quickly without spending unnecessary time searching for it.
  • Dont overdo it with multiple, competing calls to action on every page. Decide what your primary target is and then define a clear objective per page. Your content should have answered, Whats in it for me? and your call to action should now answer, What do I do now?

3. Color & Contrast

Color and contrast arent usually high up on the list of priorities for a small business owner when it comes to creating a website. But it should be, because if your website text does not have sufficient contrast compared to its background, people will have difficulty reading your content, especially people with poor vision or color-blindness.
Aside from plain readability, color and contrast are important because they can be used to create visual interest and direct the attention of the user. It can equally be effective in organizing and defining the flow and hierarchy of a page, and its therefore an essential principle to pay attention to during the design process. Here are some tips:
  • Using a free a Color Contrast tool (which conforms to accepted standards) you can easily check to see how the contrast on your website measures up.
  • Research how major sites use color and contrast to improve readability and highlight specific sections, and use this knowledge to experiment with color schemes.
  • One of best ways to enhance contrast is by creating size differences between elements, making some things appear larger than others. This works especially well within a minimal color scheme, and it means you dont have to necessarily rely on color.

4. Content, Content, Content

People visit your website for its content, and how that is structured is a huge factor in its success or failure. Unfortunately, an overwhelming number of small businesses get so caught up in overloading the user with information that they overlook how that information is presented.
Most people do not read unless its absolutely necessary, and they prefer to scan through information quickly to get to the points of interest. This is why its so important to establish a strong visual content hierarchy so users can quickly scan your site and sifting through relevant information. A logical content hierarchy also acts as a guide through each page and creates a more enjoyable user experience.
So when focusing on your content, its best to keep in mind these three tips:
  • White space is possibly the most important factor to consider. It will allow the user to focus on the meaningful content within each section.
  • Break up lengthy pieces of information into digestible blocks of text, utilizing headings, sub-headings, bullets, blockquotes and paragraphs.
  • Readable content is important, so use a good line height that is large enough to make content scannable. Margins and letter spacing also need to be taken into consideration.
When talking about content, spelling and grammar cannot be underestimated.

5. Clutter

We all know at least one small business website that seems to include everything but the proverbial kitchen sink. Many small business owners tend to cram as much as they can onto a single page the end result is a busy, cluttered and unreadable page.
The more extraneous items there are on a web page, the more unprofessional it looks, and it becomes overwhelming, confusing and distracting for the user. A cluttered website will also affect traffic because visitors wont return if they cant understand or follow the content, which leads to low traffic, a high bounce rate and possibly a poor Page Rank.
Clutter also applies to images. Too many can be a huge distraction and just plain annoying. Images should be used to illustrate, capture attention and guide the user where required.
Follow these guidelines for a more streamlined visitor experience:
  • Challenge every item on each page and ask, Does it really need to be there? Does it serve a specific purpose? Can I live without it?
  • The key is to aid the visitor in finding the information theyre looking for, so make sure to differentiate between areas of content, advertisements and promotions.
  • Prioritize your content and decide what is the most important to your visitor and potential customer and sell it well.
Even the greatest content can become lost in a mess of words and graphics, so de-cluttering is essential.
These are just five web design mistakes that many small businesses make. What other mistakes have you noticed on small business websites?

Comments are always like an award to your blog posts. Every Blogger wants to get  huge number of comments on their blog but sometimes they failed to get it. Bloggers should use few techniques in order to get huge number of valuable comments because comments brand your blog posts.
Here are Few techniques which helps in getting huge number of valuable comments:
1. Write Useful Posts: First of all I suggest to write a post which is useful to others, then only they want to read it and comment on it. If you write a post which is no of use for others then why do they waste their time in reading your blog post. So its primary to write the thing that is useful for your readers and for this you should analyse that who are your readers. Try to find out about your readers, about their needs, about their choice. Once you got to know about your readers and start writing for them then you will notice a sudden increase in the number of comments.
2. Ask Questions: Try to ask specific questions in your blog posts which relates to that post.
For example, while writing about Google + and facebook you can ask put a question at the end as so what do you think who will be the winner?
It just an example you can write questions that is related to that blog post.
3. Answer The Comments: Try to read every comments on your blog posts and if any comment need an answer then write answer for them, also if you want then you can thank your all commenters for commenting on your post. Atleast thank for for them who comments on your blog for the first time. This will increase the interest of the commenter to come again to your blog.
4. Use CommentLuv Plugin: Try to use comment luv plugin on your bog. I have already discussed about this plugin so I am not describing here again.
5. Top Commenter Widget: Have top commentator widget on your blog. This will increase commentators interest to comment on your blog because they will get traffic for their blog from here.
6. Be calm and Polite: many a time you can get comments which tells about your posts weaknesses then Just Dont get angry, be calm and admit if you have find the weakness and reply to the comment politely.
sometimes you can get criticism also because you are writing for the people then just dont be angry and handle the situation politely.
7. Select Easy Comment System: Many a time I saw sites which wants login to comment. Personally I avoid those type of sites. Sometimes the post is just amazing but I dont comment their just because of login issue. Also I suggest to use wordpress default comment system because its very simple and easy to use. Keep your comment section very simple to use.

How Do I Monetize A Classifieds Website?

Id like to setup a classifieds website for a fairly large community. The community actually had one, but the person running it moved away and shut down the site. People keep asking for a new one so I think itll be a good opportunity.
My question is how can I fully monetize the opportunity. I was thinking of charging local businesses to place small ads on the site similar to your sponsors section. Any other thoughts?
There are several ways to monetize a classifieds website, and the best model will depend on the nature and size of your website. Here are some examples:
1. The Traditional Model: Classifieds emerged in newspapers and other print publications. The model was to charge people who wanted to place an ad in the classifieds (usually according to the length of the ad, with options to highlight it). This model can work on the Internet as well, but you would need to have a very specific focus and a large audience to showcase the ads, else advertisers would not get a good return on their investment.
2. The Craigslist Model: Craigslist revolutionized the classifieds industry because it created a really popular classifieds website where posting ads is essentially free. You can browse through different categories and cities, and the volume of ads youll find is always amazing. How do they make money? By charging money for ads in very specific categories (e.g., job postings and brokered rentals). The model is quite effective because they only charge people who have a lot to gain from using their services, and hence are willing to pay for it.
3. The Inverse Model: Depending on the nature of the ads being placed on your website you could actually make the viewers of the ads pay. For example, there are freelancing job boards that charge for people who want to see the contact information of the job seekers. The advantage of this model is that posting an ad becomes free, and it increases the overall activity on the website.
4. The Sponsorship Model: As mentioned in the question itself, another possible model is to let everything be free, while getting sponsors who want to showcase their products and services to your audience. This model works well if your website has a local focus. For instance, if the classifieds website is for your local soccer community it woundt be hard to get a sports store to sponsor it.
Keep in mind that you can also experiment with two models at the same time, and that you can also start with one and migrate to another one over time. For instance, I would definitely start with the last model, making everything free. This is to make sure that people would join and participate on the website. Then once you reach a critical mass of users you could consider start charging for specific parts of the website.

5 Ways To Network Your Way To Blogging Success

Networking has become a buzzword over the last few years and with the explosion of social media, it has become the way to build a business.
We all know the vast power of social media and the role it can play in your success as a blogger. However, there are still many, many blogggers who are not taking advantage of this phenomenon.
When I say taking advantage of it, I dont mean posting your weekend activities on Facebook or tweeting out random thoughts you have throughout the day.
What Im talking about is using social media to build relationships with your peers and with those who are in social circles that you want to be a part of

The Power Of Networking

Networking is especially important for a new blogger. If you think you can go it alone and see the same level of success, then by all means try it. However, if you want to speed up the process of building traffic and gaining new readers and subscribers, then you need to leverage other bloggers audiences. This is where networking comes in.
Great content is the starting point for a successful blog, but when you are just beginning, nobody is going to read it because you have no traffic. Building significant levels of traffic takes time and thats part of the blogging process, but why not help yourself and begin networking with bloggers who have already achieved what you want?
For example, I have a fitness blog which has been running since 2008. It has never received more than 300 visitors in any given month. Why? Because I have not networked one bit. I have written my posts and done nothing to get people to read them.
Now take my current blog, I have focused my attention on building relationships through networking and have had much greater success. Here some of the things I have done which have helped grow my blog quite rapidly:
1. Use guest posting.
We have all heard that guest posting is a great way to reach out to more readers and build traffic. A few important things to keep in mind when using this method are:
  • Find a blog in a similar niche.I see a lot of bloggers who want to submit their post to a high traffic site even though it is in a completely different niche. Big mistake. Even if you get some traffic from it, chances are that they will have little interest in your topic. There is no point to driving traffic to your blog if nobody wants to read it or opt in to your newsletter.
  • Interact with those who comment on your guest post. Dont just reply with a thanks for the comment, ask them questions and get them talking to each other, thats how you will get them to come to your blog and becomeyour readers too.
2. Use Twitter.
For months, I was resistant to Twitter because I thought it was a glorified chat room. When I was finally convinced to get on board by a friend, I discovered its potential. In my opinion, Twitter is themost powerful of all social media streams. Just in the last month, I have been in contact with A list bloggers and gotten their radar, formed relationships with very successful business owners and bloggers, and made several friends in the process. When used correctly, Twitter can be incredibly powerful and can have a huge impact on your business.
3. Be Useful.
Anyone can self promote and send link after link promoting their own stuff, but the real potential for massive traffic is when others start doing it for you. I can send out 20 tweets about my own most recent post and get a few visitors.
One tweet from someone like Pat Flynn, Brian Clark, or Yaro Starak will send 50 or 100 times the traffic that I could promoting myself. How do you get these big names to promote you? You need to get their attention. Email them something that will interest them, sell their products as an affiliate, send them a personal and unique Tweet, but you HAVE to provide value.
Successful bloggers are incredibly busy people and inundated with emails, calls, and everything else all day every day. You need to stand out, be different, and NOT be looking for a handout. Please RT this will not work with these folks.
4. Make Friends.
I have been lucky enough to meet a few people on Twitter who I can now call friends. It just so happens that these friends have blogs that are MUCH more successful than mine.
My intention is to build on those friendships and hopefully learn some things about blogging along the way. If you have a hidden agenda and are just using your friendship for your benefit only, it wont last too long and you will have burned a very important bridge.
If we constantly ask our network to promote us, it will most likely ruin the relationship. However, if we are providing a good resource for people and our content is high quality, we may find that we get promoted without even asking. Just being mentioned in a high profile bloggers blog can send hundreds or thousands of visitors to our sites. The important thing here is to focus on building a network of friends, not promoters.
5. Give, Then Receive.
If you can adopt the philosophy that you need to give before receiving, you will be in a much better position in the long run.
If you can consistently promote high quality sites and valuable resources to your network, you will find that you will begin to build credibility and trust. These two things are absolutely critical to a building a successful blog.
People love to share information. Its our job to share high quality and valuable information. If you find a new blogger who seems to have great ideas, by all means, send out a tweet. If you come across a fascinating article, share that too.
Dont worry about others promoting you right now, that will come in time (assuming you have good content). Your focus should be on providing helpful resources and offering that information to your network. Over time and with a little luck, you may get the attention of the people whose blogs you have been promoting. Thats when great things can happen.
If you are not building your network in some capacity every day, you are severely limiting the growth of your blog. Make a commitment to building relationships with those in your niche and start building mutually beneficial relationships today!

10 Simple Tips To Get More Page Views Per Month ~ Must Read

IF you need a traffic on your website or blog then no need to use Paid Traffic Follow these simple steps and Get 2,50,000 Page view per Month.

1.Get some professional help at the start
We paid a small amount of money to get our blog designed by a professional at the start as well as getting somebody to add in the proper SEO plugins. Since then we havent really touched it design wise and have instead focused on the content. If you are serious about blogging or creating a business around your blog then you should invest a small amount of money at the start making it look professional.
2.Integrate Facebook wherever you can
Facebook is the most important social media tool we use in terms of bringing traffic to our site. It accounts for just over 18% of the traffic on our site and the 11,000 odd Facebook likes we have are people who come back to our site on a repeat basis to consume our content. Make it easy to share your content through Facebook and if the content is good enough it will spread like wildfire.
3.Forget about getting traffic from Twitter
Many people get obsessed with Twitter as a social media tool that drives traffic but let me save you lots of time and energy now because it simply does not. Less than 1% of our traffic comes from Twitter on a monthly basis despite some of our stories getting 100s of Retweets. You can certainly share the odd link through Twitter to gain some new readers but it is not the magic formula that you have been looking for.
4.The old blogging tricks still work best
Read many of the great posts on there or on any of the other great blogging advice sites and theyll give you great advice like to make sure you add catchy titles (probably why you are reading this post in the first place), to write often and to guest post on other blogs. These are old pieces of advice but in a world where people are obsessed with social media and the new tools those are the tools that by far and away work the best. They are the easy wins.
5.Give everything away for free
As a business we sell advice on social media. We also do a very strange thing in that we give that advice away for free on the blog all the time. There is nothing in our heads that we keep for ourselves but instead focus on sharing as much of that knowledge as possible. By giving valuable advice away you make sure that people keep coming back to your blog for more advice and thats how you build and audience. People are selfish, if they are coming to your blog they want something for free and that is what you will have to offer.
6.Be Social In The Real World
A huge amount of people who read our blog are people that we have met in the real world. Being social online is one thing but forging a social relationship with somebody in the real world is still far more powerful than anything. Try and attend conferences within your niche, meet people with similar interests and if relevant share your blog with them. If you are lucky enough to be able to speak at any events then work your blog in to the presentation and pitch yourself as the person of authority on your given subject.
7.Use rich media content if at all possible
Text is great and its an important part of blogging but not everybody is a good writer and even people who can write should try and support their content with rich media content if possible. I think it helps you stand out form the crowd. What do I mean by rich media content? Photos, videos, podcasts, diagrams, slidehows or presentations. The technology is there now for you to post most of these things for free and theyll push your content out even further to new platforms.
8.RSS is still the dream subscriber
These days youll see plenty of ways to subscribe to blogs including email, Twitter and Facebook to name but a few but one stands head and shoulders above all the others for me and its the oldest one in the listRSS. Getting an RSS subscriber is getting somebody who is totally committed to receiving your content every single day. I cherish RSS readers in a way that I would never think about Twitter followers or Facebook likes. The social subscribers are doing it as an impulse but an RSS reader is somebody who wants to get your content every single time you publish it instantly. You should take RSS subscribers over everything else in my opinion.
9.Build A passionate community around your blog
This is by far the hardest point on the whole list and there isnt really any written rule on how to achieve it. The one thing I think you have to do most is be nice to everybody and reply to as many comments as you physically can. Comments on your blog, comments on Twitter, comments on Facebook or Youtube or wherever the person has left a comment. People fly through the web these days pausing for a second at a time on sites these days so if they are taking time to leave a comment oon your blog then the very least you can do is stop and answer them. Building community take a lot of time but you should never underestimate the power of word of mouth when it comes to your blog or business and a passionate community is just about the most powerful thing around today.
10.Never give people the hard sell through social media
Once you build a community or a large audience for your site the temptation is always there to try and sell to them or to push your products. We never ever write blog posts asking people to use our services. Make no mistake that they can find our services within one click if they are looking for them but well never push them because people can smell the hard sell a mile away and theyll never go for it and youll end up pushing them away instead. The idea with social media is to engage people and have a meaningful conversation with them. That is what works best in the long run.

Six Simple Steps to Writing Your Best Post Yet

How effective are your blog posts?
Maybe youre churning out regular posts, hoping to build your search engine rankings and engage your readers but they dont seem to be having much effect.
You could spend months mastering SEO, tweaking your blog theme and building up your network on Twitter but you could be wasting your time. Your blog wont succeed unless your posts are well-written.
Heres how to build a great post, in six steps:

Step #1: Know Your Purpose

Whenever you start a post, you need to know what youre aiming for. Are you writing a post that teaches the reader something new? Are you trying to be entertaining? Inspiring? Encouraging?
Having a clear purpose makes it much easier to write your post. Often, youll have more than one aim in mind: you might be teaching your reader how to use WordPress, but youre also trying to build trust by demonstrating your own expertise.

Step #2: Create a Structure

To keep your reader engaged, your post needs a clear structure. Like any piece of writing, this means that it should have a beginning, middle and end. For a post, that looks like:
  1. The introduction this should grab attention and set up the scope of the post
  2. The main part of the post where you should deliver what youve promised (implicitly or explicitly) in the title and introduction
  3. The conclusion this might be as short as a single sentence, but its important to have something that rounds off the post
Without a clear structure, your post is likely to come across as abrupt or confusing.

Step #3: Write Directly to the Reader

As you write, focus on the reader. That means avoiding long paragraphs all about you unless youre a very good writer and have a compelling story to tell, readers are likely to switch off.
Use you frequently, and write as though youre talking to just one reader (dont write all of you reading this its distancing). If you get stuck, imagine youre sending an email to a specific reader you might even like to have a particular commenter in mind.
Forget what you were taught in school about writing essays: there are no prizes in blogging for big words. Its fine to use contractions like Ill for I will and shouldnt for should not these help to make your writing sound casual and friendly.

Step #4: Add Subheadings and Formatting

A very short post might not need any subheadings but once your post is more than 400 words or so, its useful to break it up. Subheadings help your reader to map out your post, letting them instantly see where one topic ends and another begins.
Its important to use formatting to help with readability. That means:
  • Use bullet-pointed lists where appropriate, instead of having long, dense paragraphs
  • Add in bold text to pull out key sentences (maybe one or two per subsection)
Put quotes into blockquote formatting so that they stand out
  • Readers will be put off by long, grey blocks of text, so make sure your post is visually interesting.

Step #5: Edit Your Post

Unless youre a very confident writer, always allow time for editing your posts. This doesnt just mean looking for typos and grammatical mistakes it means polishing up your writing until its as good as possible.
When you edit, consider:
  • Are there any tangents in your post that should be removed? (Sometimes, these can be used for the basis of a new post.)
  • Have you used the same word or phrase too many times within a paragraph?
  • Do you have any long, complicated sentences that could be written more simply?
  • Can you cut out any redundant phrases? (Look out for things like it is my opinion that or most people will agree)

Step #6: Include a Strong Call to Action

Add a strong call to action at the end of your post. A call to action is a request to your reader, asking them to do something specific. Youll want actions that help you in some way:
  • Getting more traffic to your post (if you enjoyed this, please click the tweet button to share it)
  • Selling your product or service (click here to find out more about my latest ebook)
  • Engaging the reader with your blog (leave a comment below to tell me what you think)
  • Helping the reader get good results (take five minutes today to follow these simple action steps)
So its your turn! Are you following all the above steps when you write your posts? If not, which one could you focus on during the next week or two? Let us know in the comments
